Update:

Norfolk Southern has extended their flood restrictions until midnight tonight. Trains will continued to be delayed at least an hour.

This Afternoon’s Service – Train 335 Cancelled

As much as we hate being the bearer of bad news, this afternoon is going to be more of the same as this morning.

Norfolk Southern has indicated that their flash flood restrictions will continue through 6:00pm this evening. This means that trains will once again be forced to move quite slow south of Alexandria. As experienced this morning, the delays will be at least one hour and could as long as an hour and a half. Due to these delays, we will not be able to return all our “turn back” trains to operate for a second run. These are cumulative delays. Trains will operate relatively close to on-time at the northernmost stations and will get later and later as the trains progress.

Therefore, Manassas Line train #335 (Departs Union Station at 6:10p) and Manassas Line train #338 (Departs Broad Run at 5:10p) will be cancelled this evening.

Update #2:

CSX has lifted the flood restrictions. No delays anticipated at this time for Fredericksburg trains. Will update is anything changes.

Update:

CSX has extended its flash flood restrictions until 7:00pm tonight. All trains will be delayed to their final destination tonight.

This Afternoon’s Service

As much as we hate being the bearer of bad news, this afternoon is going to be more of the same as this morning.

CSX’s flash flood related restrictions are currently through 3:00pm. If this remains the case, only the mid-day train #301 (Departs Union Station at 12:55p) will experience significant delays of 30-45 minutes. Again, the train will operate relatively close to on-time at the northernmost stations and will get later and later as the train progress.

With that said, there is a possibility (depending on the weather) that CSX may decide to extend their flash flood restrictions. If that occurs, we will be sure to update you.
