This message is for Manassas Line riders:

Update #2:

Train #327 is approximately 15 minutes late waiting for congestion to clear around incident area. It is currently on the move, next station Rolling Road.

**************

Update:

Norfolk Southern cleared trains to proceed through incident area. Minimal to no delays to Manassas trains are expected as a result.

****************

Due to a person that was struck by a train near Burke Centre, trains are holding until police and railroad authorities give permission for trains to proceed. While we do not know how serious the injuries are, we are certain it is not a fatality and thankful for that.

Our hope is that trains will be given the clearance to move again before Train #327 (Departs Union Station at 3:45p) gets into the area. We will update when more information is available.

Update #3

The maintainer has been able to line up the switch. Train #302 (Departs Fredericksburg at 5:45a) should be moving shortly, followed by the Amtrak train, then 304 and 306. All trains will incur additional minor delays as they get permission past the switch from the dispatcher.

Train 302 is expected to be about an hour late. Train 304 will likely be about 45 minutes late. Train 306 is currently on-time but may be 20 minutes late following the other trains.

Update #2

The switch problems continue at Franconia/Springield. Unfortunately, we have no other news to report. A maintainer is on-site trying to correct the problem.

At this point trains are stacking up. Behind train 302 is an Amtrak train, train 304 and train 306. Delays are likely to occur to most VRE trains this morning.

The Metro Option has been opened for those riders who would like to drive to Franconia/Springfield and use that option.

Switch Problems South of Franconia/Springfield

Fredericksburg Line train #302 (Departs Fredericksburg at 5:45a) is currently stopped south of Franconia/Springfield due to a switch problem. A maintainer has been called and is on-site. No estimate at this time as to when train 302 will be moving.

The Metro Option has been opened for Franconia/Springfield riders.
